Behind the Music

We look at the world around us and see a dying and abused earth that is plagued with environmental problems, some of which are highlighted in The Outlaw Ocean. As such, we hope to create a sense of urgency in our song, something slowly swelling like a dark and ominous storm. We want to reflect the same “call to action” present in the idea and story of The Outlaw Ocean. However, while there is much to fix in the world, there’s a note of hope at the end of the song in the sounds of thunder and rain — an optimistic nod to the future.

About Adaptiv

What is so special about Adaptiv?

Certainly it’s the fact that they are releasing on the international music label Revealed Recordings by Hardwell and that their tracks are supported by DJ acts like Don Diablo, Nicky Romero, Oliver Heldens, Hardwell, W&W, Robin Schulz and Fedde Le Grand or Moguai.

However, the DJ shows and their goal are clearly in the foreground: To send the listeners into an absolute state of ecstasy and to make sure they have an unforgettable time. In addition to numerous club performances, they are playing at festivals such as Parookaville, Nature One, Open Beatz, Ruhr In Love, Ferdinands Feld or Electrisize. But also international gigs in Austria, Greece or Ibiza are among their references.

The Journalism behind the Music

All music in this project is based on The Outlaw Ocean, a New York Times Best-Selling book by Ian Urbina that chronicles lawlessness at sea around the world. This reporting touches on a diversity of abuses ranging from illegal and overfishing, arms trafficking at sea, human slavery, gun running, intentional dumping, murder of stowaways, thievery of ships and other topics.
