Behind the Music
Mux MoolBefore reading The Outlaw Ocean, I was entirely unaware of all the crimes happening out on the ocean. I found myself constantly amazed by the level of lawlessness that prevails just 12 nautical miles offshore, and moved by the bravery of those taking massive risks to challenge the status quo, while also battling the immense power of the ocean itself. What’s happening in our seas is a reflection of our society and who we are — each conflict and instance Ian reports on revealing the consequences of our meddling. I was thrilled to compose music inspired by these incredibly pressing issues, and felt honored to be one small part in Ian’s massive vision.
About Mux Mool
Mux Mool’s fusion between hip-hop and intelligent electronic music exhibits an elusive cohesion of concept. His discography as a whole is greater than the sum of its parts, championed by entities including Ghostly International, Pretty Lights Music and Adult Swim. From landing a spot on iTunes “Best Electronic Songs,” to starting Super Best Records with Michal Menert, to winning GameCrate's “Game Soundtrack of the Year” in 2017 for Nidhogg II, it's undeniable that Brian Lindgren's career is as extensive as it is genre-defying.
Mux Mool's latest release is his summer 2020 album “Skulltaste II,” the sonically improved and refined second installment of the critically-acclaimed “Skulltaste” album. The sequel is a sharper, more streamlined vision that emphasizes his skilled finger drumming and original soundscapes. With the essence of a 2021 album already in the air, the elder statesman Mux Mool continues to add to his already impressive body of work.
